LAHORE – Social media influencer Naila Raja has finally broken her silence and categorically denied rumors of an alleged affair with Pakistani cricketer Imad Wasim, which had been circulating on social media in recent days.
The online speculations said that the tensions between Imad Wasim and his wife Sania Ashfaq were due to Imad’s alleged extramarital affair.
A video showing Imad walking with a woman in London went viral while many social media users claimed that the woman was Naila Raja. The video sparked heavy criticism against Imad Wasim, with the users accusing him of being disloyal to his pregnant wife and labeling his actions as “shameful”.
While Imad Wasim has remained silent on the matter, Naila Raja issued a detailed clarification on her Instagram, stating that the situation had gone too far and she could no longer remain quiet.
Naila explained that the video and story in question were actually posted by her on her own Instagram account and were not meant to be secret. She questioned how a simple story could be interpreted as the reason behind someone’s divorce. She criticized societal attitudes, pointing out that respect is often linked solely to women, while no one considers that a woman also has her own dignity and honor.
Commenting on the broader social behavior, Naila said we live in a society where people are always ready to pass judgment on others without context, simply to portray themselves as morally superior. She emphasized that such behavior contributes to serious issues like honor-based violence and abuse.
Regarding the viral video, Naila clarified that it was filmed outside an eyewear store in London and that the person who recorded it intentionally focused from a particular angle, ignored others who were present at the location.
As a public figure, Naila acknowledged that some level of criticism is expected but she urged people not to drag her into matters with which she has no connection. She also revealed that her brother had received offensive messages, urging him to “control” his sister.
Expressing anger over this, she asserted that she is a woman who has built her life with dignity, hard work and self-respect.
It may be mentioned here that this is not the first time Imad Wasim has been linked to such controversies. He was previously accused of having an inappropriate relationship with an Afghan woman, and the photos of the two also went viral at the time.
