LAHORE- In a major development, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has given clean chit to caretaker prime minister’s Advisor Ahad Khan Cheema in a case related to assets beyond means case.
The anti-corruption watchdog has moved a report to the accountability court and said that Cheema’s assets and properties match his income. It told the court that no reference is required against him.
The NAB report also revealed that all the other alleged ‘benamidars’ (individuals holding property on behalf of others) of Cheema established their assets from their own income and they had nothing to do with Ahad Cheema.
The report also made it clear that the accounts of Ahad Cheema’s relatives including Sadia Mansoor, Mansoor Ahmed and Nazia Ashraf are not ‘benami’ accounts of Cheema.
“Cheema’s total income is Rs 213 million while his expenses are 131 million,” said the report submitted to the court.
The PM’s aide also provided complete record of his income and profit records to the NAB during the investigation. The NAB in its report said that the whole record of the former bureaucrat was found correct and thoroughly verified.
It asked the court to decide on Ahad Cheema’s acquittal plea under the law.
Cheema had earlier served as DG of Lahore Development Authority.
