ISLAMABAD – Due to severe snowfall, the district administration has temporarily shut the Murree Expressway entrance from Phulgara Toll Plaza to Murree for all non-essential traffic.
The National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) shared the update on social media, informing the public that local residents are still able to travel via the N-75 highway, which remains open.
Authorities are advising visitors to refrain from traveling to the hill station unless absolutely necessary until conditions improve. In response to the situation, teams from both NHMP and the National Highway Authority (NHA) are working round-the-clock to clear snow and restore normal traffic flow on the expressway.
With the help of specialized machinery, the authorities are focused on removing the snow and making the road accessible again. Safety remains the top priority as efforts continue to minimize disruption for travelers.
Motorists are urged to be cautious and limit travel as the snow clearing operation progresses. Authorities have assured the public that they are doing everything possible to resolve the issue quickly.
Additionally, weather reports indicate that rain and snowfall are expected to persist in Murree and the nearby Galiyat region until early January.
As a precaution, the district administration has recommended that travelers equip their vehicles with tire chains, ensure fuel tanks are full, and follow the instructions of traffic officers.
