LAHORE – Several major motorways in Pakistan have been closed to traffic due to dense fog, with authorities warning of hazardous conditions.
Motorway police spokesperson Syed Imran Ahmad said the affected routes include M-2 (Lahore to Islamabad), M-3 (Faizpur to Rajana), and M-4 (Gojra to Multan).
Additionally, the M-5 (Multan to Zahir Pir) has also been closed due to poor visibility caused by the fog.
The closures are aimed at ensuring the safety of travelers and preventing accidents in these hazardous weather conditions.
Dense fog is reported to be affecting major roads, including the National Highway, with locations such as Manga Mandi, Pattoki, Okara, and Sahiwal experiencing reduced visibility.
Similarly, areas like Kasowal, Iqbal Nagar, Chichawatni, and Mian Channu are also covered in thick fog.
In southern Punjab, severe fog is reported in cities such as Khanewal, Multan, Basti Mooluk, Lodhran, and Bahawalpur.
The fog has also impacted Ahmadpur Sharqia, Rahim Yar Khan, and Sadiqabad, further complicating travel across the region.
Motorway police have urged drivers to avoid these routes where possible and exercise caution when traveling in areas affected by fog.
