ISLAMABAD – Pakistani actress Momina Iqbal served Rs19 crore defamation notice on Allama Nasir Madni, accusing the scholar of damaging her reputation through remarks that went viral online.
The Ehd-e-Wafa star is demanding public apology, removal of related content, and compensation for the alleged harm caused to her picture.

Amid legal tussle with PML-N MPA Saqib Chaddar, the actress served notice through advocate Adnan Ehsan Khan under the Defamation Ordinance, accusing Nasir Madni of making controversial statements that allegedly fueled public campaign against her. Momina demanded the immediate removal of all related videos and content from social media platforms, along with an unconditional public apology.
The actress warned that failure to comply with the notice could result in legal proceedings seeking Rs 190 million in damages.
The dispute erupted after Allama Nasir Madni publicly commented on the controversy involving Momina Iqbal and PML-N MPA Saqib Chadhar during a gathering, which quickly went viral online and sparked intense debate across social media.
Breaking her silence, Momina Iqbal delivered a strongly worded response, accusing the cleric of amplifying unverified allegations against her. In an emotional message, she stated that while she expects justice through legal channels, ultimate accountability rests with Allah.
The actress also highlighted serious consequences of making accusations without evidence, arguing that such claims can inflict lasting harm on an individual’s honor and dignity. Referring to Islamic teachings, she stressed that every action is subject to divine accountability and that justice, sooner or later, will prevail.
Momina Iqbal and Saqib Chadhar’s Legal Battle
The dispute between Momina and Saqib Chadhar has remained in news lately with allegations of harassment, blackmail, cybercrime, and interference in personal relationships, alongside counterclaims involving financial support, gifts, and the nature of their past association.
Momina said she rejected Chadhar’s marriage proposal and ended their relationship upon discovering he was already married. She became the target of threats, abusive communication, and digital harassment. She claims that Chadhar, along with individuals close to him, attempted to pressure her into marriage, interfere with her personal life, and disrupt her relationships, including her recent marriage to Hamza Habib.
These allegations led her to file complaints with police and cybercrime authorities, resulting in a case under Pakistan’s cybercrime laws and an ongoing investigation involving digital forensic evidence.
Chadhar however denied all allegations, maintaining that his relationship with Momina has been mischaracterized and that there had been no recent contact between them. He argues that he provided substantial financial assistance, luxury gifts, travel arrangements, and other benefits during their association, presenting these as evidence of a consensual relationship rather than harassment. He has also made allegations regarding Momina’s personal background, which she strongly rejects.
The controversy expanded beyond the original allegations, drawing attention to additional claims and legal issues involving Chadhar, extensive media coverage, and intense debate on social media. Supporters of Momina view the case as an example of abuse of influence and cyber harassment, while others question the motives and claims of both sides.
