Missing Srinagar man’s body found in central Kashmir’s Brenwar after three weeks

The body of an elderly man from Noorbagh area of Srinagar was recovered in Brenwar area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Wednesday three weeks after he went missing from his home.

Quoting a police spokesman, news agency KNO reported that the body was found by locals near Power Receiving Station Brenwar, who later in-formed the police. The police spokesman said that the police party from Police Station Chadoora dispatched to the area and led by SHO Chadoora found the male body aged 55-60 years with grey hair and beard.

As per police, preliminary examination of the body suggested that the death might have been caused due to cold as no visible mark of violence was found on the body.

Police identified the deceased as Abdul Raheem Bhat son of Abdul Gaffar, a resident of Noorbagh, Srinagar, who was missing for the last three weeks.

The body has been sent to GMC Srinagar for medico-legal formalities, police said adding it will be handed over to his legal heirs while further investigations have been started.—KMS
