Mayor of Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, along with Karachi Commissioner Hassan Naqvi and other senior officials, conducted a tour of several key historical and developmental sites across the city. The delegation included the Municipal Commissioner of KMC, Deputy Commissioner South, MD Sindh Solid Waste, DG KDA, and other officers.
During the visit, the Mayor inspected various locations, including Empress Market, Jahangir Park, Parking Plaza, KMC Dispensary, Saddar, Tower, the old American Consulate near Frere Hall, Sindh Wildlife Museum building, and the streets surrounding Karachi Press Club. Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab emphasized the importance of preserving the city’s historic heritage, stating, “The historical buildings of Karachi not only enhance the city’s beauty but are an integral part of our cultural heritage. We will take necessary steps to protect these landmarks and restore their original condition by removing encroachments around them.”
He further stated that all relevant authorities must work together to ensure the city’s development and improvement. “Ongoing efforts are being made to improve infrastructure across all seven districts of Karachi, and special attention is being given to the restoration of important historical areas like Saddar,” he said.
At the end of the visit, Mayor Karachi, together with Commissioner Hassan Naqvi, participated in a tree plantation drive at the PIDC area. Speaking on the need for more greenery in the city, the Mayor said, “Karachi urgently requires more greenery and trees. We will work on planting seasonal flowers and attractive plants along the roads to enhance the city’s environment.”This visit highlighted the importance of both ongoing development projects and the protection of the city’s historical landmarks. Mayor reiterated that the development and prosperity of Karachi depend on the collaboration of all stakeholders.
