Surrey police are reportedly in a manhunt after the body of a 10-year-old girl, the daughter of a Pakistani-British man, was found in a Woking council house belonging to her father.

The body of Sara Sharif was found in the morning of Aug 10 from the house of Malik Urfan Sharif, 41. According to British media, the discovery of the girl’s body prompted a murder investigation as there was no one in the house when police arrived. Her mother Olga Sharif, 36, told media that she knew about the tragedy when police called her.

She said she married Urfan in November 2009, but the marriage ended in 2017. Her ex-husband was awarded full custody of both Sara and her 13-year-old brother in 2019. Since then, she claims she has only been allowed to see her children twice. Police have launched a murder inquiry and a manhunt is under way for three people who were known to the girl but are feared to have left the country. According to a Surrey Police spokesman, it was confirmed that no other people were present at the address when they attended in the early hours of Thursday morning. The three people they would like to speak to were known to the victim, he added.—INP
