LPG prices in Pakistan – What’s expected this week

Lpg Prices In Pakistan Whats Expected This Week

ISLAMABAD – LPG prices across Pakistan have reached historic high increasing burden in inflation-hit public amid winter season when demand for the commodity surges due to low pressure of natural gas.

ISLAMABAD – LPG prices across Pakistan have surged to record highs, placing an additional burden on inflation-hit consumers, particularly as demand for the fuel rises during winter due to low natural gas pressure.

Recent developments, including the arrival of two LPG-carrying ships from Oman and Iran’s clarification regarding the reopening of the border, had raised hopes of a price drop. However, relief is currently not in sight, as consumers continue to pay exorbitant prices for LPG.

Reports said the two vessels brought a combined total of 7,603 metric tonnes of LPG to Port Qasim.

The vessel _Prianes_ unloaded 4,250 metric tonnes at the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) terminal, while _Alisa One_ discharged 3,083 metric tonnes at the Engro terminal.

Reports also said the stalled supply of LPG through Iran’s border routes could also resume from tomorrow.

OGRA Official Rate

The official LPG rate set by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) stands at Rs280 per kilogram.

Current Rates in Open Market

Despite the arrival of the two vessels, LPG prices have yet to decline in several cities, with the commodity continuing to sell at Rs600 to Rs650 per kilogram in parts of the country.

In Lahore, LPG shops remained closed for a second consecutive day due to a strike by shopkeepers.

In Quetta, LPG prices fell by Rs30 to Rs520 per kilogram. The commodity was being sold at Rs570 per kilogram in Peshawar and Rs600 per kilogram in Attock.

Prices in Rawalpindi and Islamabad stood at Rs600 per kilogram, while LPG rates in Karachi reached Rs550 per kilogram.

What’s Expected This Week

Reports citing market sources said LPG prices are expected to decline from tomorrow as supplies improve.

What the Public Demands

High LPG prices have increased the cost of essential food items, including flour, pulses, chicken, meat and milk, adding to the financial burden on consumers.

Amid rising living costs, members of the public are calling on the government to take measures to control prices and provide relief to households.
