NEW DELHI – Air India crashed shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad, killing at least 204 people, while a lone survivor Vishwash Kumar Ramesh narrated harrowing details.
It was meant to be a routine flight, just over nine hours from Ahmedabad to the British capital, but it ended in a tragic crash. Among them was 40-year-old Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, seated by the window in 11A, traveling home to London after visiting family in India.
The survivor said seconds after takeoff, everything changed, and there was a loud noise. He said it was not any normal engine sound. It was sudden, harsh… and then everything happened so fast.

Passengers screamed in panic and a violent jolt threw belongings from overhead bins. Some passengers hold their seats while others held tightly to loved ones. The aircraft started to shudder, tilting unnaturally with its nose slightly up, but it was not climbing. It was falling.
“I was surrounded by bodies. Just… bodies. People I had seen minutes earlier now nobody was alive,” he added.
