ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) has released details of the newborns who died in a fire at the hospital’s nursery, along with information about the baby who was rescued.
According to hospital documents, 14 newborns died in the incident, while a 15th baby was rescued.
The deceased included the newborn of Javeria, whose father was identified as Samiullah, and the newborn of Alia, whose father was Rashid. The baby of Anisa, whose father was Abdullah, was also among those who died.
The document stated that both newborn twins of Asia Bibi died in the fire. Their father was identified as Bahadur.
Other victims included the newborns of Shakila, whose father was Muhammad Tanveer; Sidra, whose father was Imran; and Sunbal, whose father was Usman.
The newborn of Kiran Fatima, whose father was Muhammad Saad-ur-Rehman, also died in the incident. The document further identified the newborns of Amina, whose father was Khurram, and Maria, whose father was Qayyum, among the deceased.
The newborn of Khizra, whose father was Mudassar, and the baby of Hafsa, whose father was Ishtiaq, also lost their lives.
The 14th deceased child was the newborn of Aroosa Saeed, whose father was identified as Idris Khan.
Meanwhile, the rescued baby was identified as the child of Asifa, whose father is Waqas.
The hospital said the fire broke out at approximately 6:54 a.m. at PIMS, resulting in the deaths of 14 newborns.
