LAHORE – In a landmark international acknowledgment of Punjab’s progress, the Nobel Sustainability Trust (NST), an independent foundation established in Switzerland in 2007 by members of the Nobel family and chaired by Peter Nobel, has formally recognised Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for her trailblazing efforts in climate resilience, forest restoration, wildlife conservation, environmental protection, air quality improvement, and digital smog management.
The recognition also highlights Punjab’s growing use of modern technology, real time monitoring, digital platforms, and data driven systems to address air pollution and strengthen forest and wildlife management, reflecting an emerging model of technology enabled environmental governance.
Technology driven air quality management
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Punjab has expanded its focus on using technology, environmental data, digital monitoring, and modern enforcement systems to improve air quality and respond to smog and pollution.

As part of the recognition, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has been invited to attend and address the NST Award Gala and Summit 2026 in Hong Kong, bringing together world leaders, representatives of the Nobel family, global scientists, sustainability experts, policymakers, international organisations, business leaders, philanthropists, and innovators.
The prestigious gathering will provide an international platform for the exchange of ideas and experiences on climate action, environmental sustainability, technological innovation, conservation, biodiversity, air quality management, and sustainable development.
