The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 95 illegal commercial buildings and premises that defaulted on commercialisation fees in Lahore’s various housing schemes on Thursday.
LDA’s Town Planning Wing sealed 11 buildings in Gulberg, 19 in Township, 24 in Allama Iqbal Town, and 41 in Westwood Colony and Johar Town during operations against illegal commercial buildings and nonpayment of commercialisation fees.
The sealed premises include Outfitters, Levi’s outlet, Breakout, GAS, Minnie Minors, Last Look, Unique High School, Mitcon Grammar School, The Educators, London Academy Plan School (LAPS), American Lyceum, Lahore campus of Imperial International School & College, Grand Institute of Medical Sciences, Harmain Trade Test & Technical Training Centre, grocery stores, food outlets, offices, and other businesses.
LDA Chief Town Planner I, Assad-uz-Zaman, and Chief Town Planner II, Azhar Ali, supervised the operations which were carried out by the enforcement teams, assisted by the Police.
According to the LDA spokesperson, several notices were served on the owners of these illegal buildings before the operations were carried out.
LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed the continuation of indiscriminate operations against violations of bylaws, encroachments, illegal commercial buildings and non-payment of commercialisation fees in LDA-controlled areas and Lahore’s housing schemes.
