LAHORE – Smog intensity will gradually increase in Lahore and the plains of Punjab due to a lack of rain and stable atmospheric conditions.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan.
Under these conditions, dry weather is expected in Lahore and most districts of the province on Thursday night and the next two days. Cold weather is likely in Murree, Galiyat and surroundings during the morning and night hours.
Smog will likely persist in Lahore, Gujranwala, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Okara, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Khanewal, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur and Multan. Due to the persistent dryness and stable atmospheric conditions, smog intensity will gradually increase in Lahore and other plains during the next 2-3 days.
Experts have advised citizens to take precautionary measures to save themselves from smog-related hazards. Doctors have advised extra care for children and elderly people.
Lahore’s maximum temperatures will likely remain between 33°C and 35°C on Friday and Saturday and between 32°C and 34°C on Sunday.
Meanwhile, dry weather prevailed in Lahore and most districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Partly cloudy/cold weather prevailed in Murree and Galyat. Smog prevailed in Lahore and the plains of Punjab.
Sahiwal and Bahawalpur remained the hottest places in Punjab, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 35°C. The maximum temperature in Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Sargodha was recorded at 34°C.
In Lahore, the maximum temperature was recorded at 33°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 63 per cent.
