Lahore Literati American Lyceum Among 96 Sealed In Punjab Capital

The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 96 illegal commercial buildings and the premises that defaulted on commercialisation fees in various housing schemes of the Punjab capital on Thursday.

LDA’s Town Planning Wing sealed 14 buildings in Gulberg, 13 in Shadman, Shah Jamal and New Muslim Town, 47 in Johar Town, and 22 in Allama Iqbal Town and Subzazar Housing Scheme during operations against illegal commercial use and nonpayment of commercialisation fees.

The sealed premises include Lahore Literati, American Lyceum, Aas School System, The Leaders School System, Jamil Science School & Academy, Fine Care Medical Store, Hotel The Pearl Inn, Hotel Dream View, Khyber Hotel, Lasani Hotel, Hotel Royal Galaxy, grocery stores, beauty salons, food points, offices, and other businesses.

LDA Chief Town Planner I, Assad-uz-Zaman, and Chief Town Planner II, Azhar Ali, supervised the operations. LDA’s enforcement and security teams carried out these operations with the assistance of the Police.

According to the LDA officials, several notices were served on the owners of these buildings before carrying out these operations.

LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed the continuation of indiscriminate operations against violations of building and parking bylaws, land grabbers, encroachments, illegal commercial use and non-payment of commercialisation fees in LDA-controlled areas and Lahore’s housing schemes.
