PESHAWAR – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has departed for a three-day visit to Sindh, during which he will participate in street movement activities, hold key meetings and address a public rally at Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi.
In a statement issued from Peshawar, the chief minister said he was travelling to Sindh to convey the message of the party’s founding chairman. He said the three-day visit would include participation in various events and meetings. Emphasising the importance of collective efforts, Afridi urged party workers and supporters to fully contribute to preparations for the street movement.
He announced that a public rally would be held on Sunday, January 11, at 4:00 pm at Mazar-e-Quaid, describing it as one of the largest gatherings in Karachi’s history and calling for comprehensive preparations.
Later, Sohail Afridi reached Islamabad Airport, where members of the provincial cabinet as well as national and provincial lawmakers from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were present to see him off.
It is pertinent to mention that during his Sindh visit, the chief minister will hold meetings with party leadership. His schedule also includes meetings with lawyers, trader organisations, the Sindh chief minister, and representatives of the media in Karachi.
Meanwhile, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information Shafi Jan said that the Sindh visit, undertaken on the instructions of PTI founding chairman Imran Khan, was aimed at accelerating the street movement. He said the chief minister would visit Insaf House today to meet party leaders before proceeding to the Press Club, while a meeting with the Sindh chief minister is scheduled for Monday. He confirmed that a major rally would be held at Mazar-e-Quaid on January 11.
According to Shafi Jan, the chief minister will also take part in street movement activities in District South, Malir, and Korangi, and will meet jailed party workers. On Saturday, he will travel to Hyderabad in the form of a rally, where he will address the Hyderabad Bar and Press Club, participate in the ISF convention, meet members of the Sindh cabinet and other dignitaries, and lead street movement activities in Hyderabad and Kotri.
He added that on Sunday, Sohail Afridi will meet representatives of the ILF, senior lawyers and the All City Traders Ittehad Association. The chief minister will also participate in street movement activities in Keamari and District West, pay respects at Mazar-e-Quaid, and meet MWM leadership as well as media representatives in District East.
Shafi Jan said that on Monday, the chief minister will address the Sindh High Court Bar Association before departing for Peshawar.
