Karachi Kings have defeated Lahore Qalandars by three wickets in a crucial match of the Pakistan Super League season nine (PSL 9) at the National Bank Stadium Karachi.

Eearlier, Qalandars set a target of 178 runs for Kings.

After opening batsman Mirza Baig removed for four in an early blow to Qalandars, Fakhar Zaman and Abdullahd Shafique built a strong second wicket partnership to boost the total as they made 54 and 55, respectively.

After their dismissal, the middle order was removed in quick sessions. However, David Wiese from lower middle order showed fireworks by smashing 24 off 9 to set a challenging total against the hosts.

Zahid Mahmood took two wickets while Anwar Ali and Muzarabani claimed one wicket each.

Earlier, Kings won the toss and elect to field first.

Multan Sultans and Peshawar Zalmi have already qualified for the playoffs

Karachi, who will play their last league match on March 11 against Peshawar Zalmi, must win their final two games and hope that either Islamabad United or Quetta Gladiators lose their remaining matches for them to qualify for the playoffs.

However, the path to the playoffs is quite straightforward for Islamabad and Quetta as they only need one more win to make it to the next stage.

It must be noted that defending champions Lahore Qalandars are already out of the race for playoffs.
