KARACHI – The Jinnah International Airport will reopen its long-closed passenger pickup lane in order to end passenger inconvenience.
The decision comes after years of the lane being blocked, causing significant challenges for passengers and increasing traffic congestion around the airport.
Reports said the airport administration has started removing the barriers that have been in place for several years, following instructions from the Director General of the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA).
This move is expected to alleviate the traffic bottlenecks that often resulted in long queues of vehicles outside the airport, particularly during peak times.
The passenger pickup lane had been closed under the direction of former PCAA Director General Khakan Murtaza. However, its closure led to serious inconveniences for passengers, with vehicles unable to pick up passengers in a designated area, further adding to the chaos and disorder in the vicinity of the airport.
Reports haec confirmed that the passenger pickup lane will be reopened today (Tuesday), bringing relief to travelers and improving the flow of traffic at the busy airport.
Jinnah International Airport (JIAP) Karachi is Pakistan’s largest international and domestic airport. It consist of four terminals, Terminal-I, II, III and the Jinnah Terminal.
The airport is named after Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan and its first Governor General, who was popularly known as the Quaid-e-Azam.
