Jinnah Iqbal South Asian Forum adopted a unique way of paying tributes to our national poet Allama Dr. Mhammad Iqbal as a Special warm quilts distribution ceremony in connection with Iqbal Day was held here in Mian Hayat Bakhsh Hall of Anjuman-e-Faiz-ul-Islam Rawalpindi on Sunday in which more than 110 warm quilts were distributed among the destitute students, orphans of Anjuman Faizul Islam, widows and deserving people.
Ex-Federal Interior Minister Malik Habib Khan was the chief guest while the President of Anjuman Faizul Islam Prof. Dr. Riaz Ahmed graced the occasion as guest of honour and Dr. Mazhar Qayyum presided over the event.
Chairman of Jinnah Iqbal thinkers Forum Rana Abdul Baqi, renowned poet Naseem Sehr, Chief Organizer of the Forum Arsalan Abbasi, Member Executive body of AFI Ghazi Muhammad Bakhsh, Prof. Dr. Aqeela Asif, Dr. Mrs. Sabahat Akram, other office bearers of the forum, orphan students of AFI, widows and other deserving people were present on this occasion.
Addressing to the participants on this occasion, Ex-Federal Interior Minister Malik Habib Khan paid tributes to Jinnah Iqbal Thinkers Forum especially to the chairman of the forum Rana Abdul Baqi for its social services rendered without any lust for return.
He said that meeting the needs of the oppressed and deprived people of the society was a great virtue.” Jinnah Iqbal Thinkers Forum is working very well and worthy to be followed in this regard on which all the organizers of the forum especially Rana Abdul Baqi deserve praise and admiration”, he added saying more that such virtuous deeds helps to lessen the deprivations of the society.
Prof. Dr. Riaz Ahmed also paid homage to the efforts of the forum and said that it was the responsibility of the affluent members of the society to play their role in meeting the needs of the underprivileged.
Dr. Mazhar Qayyum also spoke on the occasion and underlined the need of spreading helping hands to the poor.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Jinnah Iqbal Thinkers Forum Rana Abdul Baqi said that our forum has the honor of performing this social service twice a year.
He mentioned that warm quilts were given to white-clad and widows at the beginning of winter, while deserving families were given a full month’s ration before the start of Ramadan.
“It is a movement and we want to spread it by holding events,” he said. Rana Abdul Baqi said that there is no purpose of life but to live for and serve the others.
On this occasion, more than 120 widows and deserving people were given double warm blankets.
The next distribution of warm quilts will be held next Sunday, November 28 in the same venue. Arsalan Abbasi Advocate led the collective duha at the end of the ceremony.
