Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has rejected claims of allowing the use of military bases for United States strikes targeting Iran.
In a phone call with Iranian FM Abbas Araghchi, he stated that Italy had not been involved in any military operation and had never granted authorisation for its bases to be used in attacks against Iran.

Antonio Tajani emphasised that Italy has strictly adhered to its agreements with the US and has not participated in any war-related action directed at Iran.
The statement followed controversy sparked a day earlier after Mark Rutte suggested that Italian airbases had been used in connection with US military action against Iran.
The remarks triggered political debate in Italy, particularly after Giorgia Meloni had already denied any involvement of Italian bases in direct military operations against Iran.
Meanwhile, Guido Crosetto clarified that the facilities in question were only used for technical support and logistical purposes, dismissing suggestions of direct combat involvement.
