In view of security fears and any likely future protests, the federal government has decided to expand the area of Red Zone in Islamabad.
About three square kilometre area of Islamabad will be added to Red Zone. The areas upto PIMS Hospital, Sector F8 and Zero Point will be declared Red Zone. Sector F8 will be included in Red Zone due to housing residences of many diplomats.
The Zero Point, Third Avenue, Parade Ground and Club Road will be part of Red Zone. In past, these areas were declared Red Zone on trial basis due to PTI’s protest. Security concerns and any likely future protests prompted the government to take the decision to expand Red Zone.
