Islamabad Pakistan Weather Rain Expected Over Next Two Days

More widespread monsoon rains are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and parts of Pakistan on Friday night and during the weekend.

Isolated heavy and at times very heavy downpours are also expected during the forecast period.

Synoptic Situation

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a depression is currently located over eastern Madhya Pradesh. It is expected to move westward during the next 24 to 36 hours.

Under the influence of this deep depression, monsoon currents are continuously penetrating the eastern and central parts of Pakistan.

Forecast

More rain-wind/thundershowers with isolated heavy to very heavy falls are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Sindh, and northeastern Balochistan on Friday night and during the weekend.

Impacts

Heavy rains may cause urban flooding in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Pothohar Region, Peshawar, Nowshera, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Lahore, Faisalabad, Tharparkar, Sukkur, Shaheed Benazirabad, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Sanghar, Khairpur, Mithi, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Tando Muhammad Khan, and Tando Allahyar.

Landslides may occur in vulnerable areas of Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Buner, Battagram, Mansehra, Shangla, and Abbottabad), Murree, Galiyat, and Kashmir.

Widespread rains may trigger flash floods in local streams and nullahs of Kashmir, Murree, Galiyat, northeastern Punjab, Islamabad, the Pothohar Region, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan.

Temperatures

Daytime temperatures in Islamabad are expected to remain between 34°C and 36°C on Saturday and Sunday.

Daytime temperatures in Rawalpindi are expected to remain between 32°C and 34°C on Saturday and Sunday.
