Islamabad, Pakistan Weather: More intermittent rain predicted

More intermittent rains are predicted in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Monday evening/night.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly wave is currently prevailing over the upper parts of Pakistan.

Under these conditions, more intermittent rains are predicted in the twin cities and parts of Upper Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and adjacent hilly areas on Monday evening/night. Snowfall is predicted in the hilly regions. Cold and dry weather is likely to prevail elsewhere in the country. Moderate to dense fog is likely to persist over plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh.

Landslides and snowfall may cause road closures/slippery conditions in Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astore, Hunza, Skardu, Murree, Galiyat, Neelum Valley, Bagh, Poonch and Haveli.

Islamabad’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 07°C and 09°C on Tuesday and between 05°C and 07°C on Wednesday.

Rawalpindi’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 08°C and 10°C on Tuesday and between 07°C and 09°C on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, cold and partly cloudy prevailed in most parts of the country during the last 24 hours. Fog prevailed in some districts of Punjab and upper Sindh. Dense fog prevailed in the northeastern districts of Punjab. However, rain and snowfall occurred at isolated places in Kashmir, upper/central Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Leh and Gupis remained the coldest places in the country, where the temperature dropped 03°C below the freezing point. The minimum temperature in Kalat was recorded at -01°C, and in Skardu, Quetta, Parachinar and Malam Jabba at 0°C.

In Islamabad, the minimum temperature was recorded at 10°C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 94 per cent.

In Rawalpindi, the minimum temperature was recorded at 11°C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 94 per cent.
