KARACHI – Pakistan is currently experiencing widespread internet disruptions, affecting users across the country, it emerged on Friday.
Reports said the issue stems from a temporary breakdown of one of the country’s key upstream providers, which has led to a slowdown in internet speeds and interruptions in online activities.
NayaTel, one of the affected service providers, released an official statement on its social media accounts, explaining that the reduced internet performance is due to the unavailability of one of its two upstream providers.
As a result, internet traffic in several cities across Pakistan has been impacted, and users are facing difficulties with connectivity.
The company reassured its customers that its technical teams are closely monitoring the situation and working with the upstream provider to restore services as quickly as possible. However, NayaTel did not specify when the issue would be fully resolved.
Experts suggest that such upstream failures can severely affect internet performance nationwide, as these providers supply data to multiple internet service providers.
Services like online banking, video calls, social media, and other internet-based activities may continue to be disrupted. Users have been advised to delay non-essential online activities while awaiting updates from the company.
