THIS timeless axiom perfectly defines Pakistan’s current crossroads with Afghanistan.
For decades Pakistan’s state policy has exemplified strategic patience rooted in shared faith, geography and a sincere hope for reciprocal brotherhood. We have absorbed ingratitude, tolerated hostile rhetoric and endured the bleeding wound of cross-border terrorism while extending dialogue and support. Yet patience is not infinite; its boundaries are drawn by the scale of provocation. The events of October 11–12, 2025, represent that final and unforgivable provocation—an episode that exposes a calculated conspiracy and marks the end of an era of restraint.
Pakistan has consistently extended a hand of friendship and solidarity to Afghanistan, upholding the bonds of religion, history and neighbourly goodwill. This was the essence of our patience and the moral foundation of our regional approach. Unfortunately, this goodwill has been met not with gratitude or cooperation but with persistent hostility.
The unprovoked attacks by Afghan-based militants, launched precisely as Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister was in New Delhi formalizing anti-Pakistan rhetoric, constitute a brazen act of strategic duplicity that has systematically eroded the foundations of our restraint. It is deeply alarming that Afghanistan initiated cross-border aggression at the very moment its Foreign Minister was engaged in high-profile diplomatic meetings in India, where anti-Pakistan rhetoric was openly endorsed and incorporated into joint declarations. Such timing cannot be dismissed as coincidence. It reveals a deliberate and hostile design aimed at undermining Pakistan’s security and sovereignty. This calculated aggression coinciding with diplomatic engagement in India exposes not only Afghanistan’s complicity but also the growing Indo-Afghan alignment intended to destabilize Pakistan. The synchronization of diplomatic gestures with cross-border violence demonstrates a coordinated effort to weaken Pakistan through political maneuvering and militant proxies. It is a criminal and orchestrated intent that the people of Pakistan must recognize as part of a broader regional conspiracy against the nation’s peace and stability.
Pakistan is deeply concerned over the unwarranted aggression by the Afghan Taliban, Fitna-al-Khawarij and Fitna-al-Hindustan along the Pak-Afghan border during the night of October 11–12, 2025. These unprovoked actions aimed at unsettling regional stability starkly contradict the spirit of good neighbourliness and the principles of peaceful coexistence between two brotherly nations. Over the past six months, Pakistan’s security forces have been engaged in an unrelenting battle against cross-border terrorism. From North Waziristan to Bajaur and Zhob, the evidence is irrefutable: terrorist attacks have consistently been launched from Afghan soil. In North Waziristan, 71 terrorists were neutralized; in Bajaur, three brave soldiers were martyred during Operation Sarbakaf and in Zhob, the bodies of 50 slain militants, most of them Afghan nationals, were sent back to Paktika, Afghanistan. These are not isolated incidents but part of a coordinated campaign to undermine Pakistan’s peace and sovereignty.
At this critical juncture, these attacks cannot be viewed as random skirmishes. The alignment between diplomatic overtures in India and military provocations along the border reveals a deliberate nexus between the Afghan Taliban, TTP and their regional sponsors. It reflects a broader strategic effort to destabilize Pakistan through proxy warfare and political manipulation. This situation must, therefore, be understood in its true context, not as sporadic clashes but as a manifestation of an organized campaign by Pakistan’s adversaries. The people and state of Pakistan must now respond with unity, vigilance and unwavering resolve to defend the nation’s sovereignty, stability and peace.
