Is Imran Khans Jail To Hospital Move Setting Stage For Deal With Powerful Quarters

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former prime minister Imran Khan has been transferred back to Adiala Jail after medical checkup at Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad.

Khan was taken from the prison to the hospital under tight security, with a police escort accompanying his convoy. A panel of six doctors conducted detailed medical examination.

Why Khan Was Not Admitted?

After examining the PTI founder, the medical team concluded that there was no immediate medical reason preventing him from remaining in custody, according to reports.

Following the assessment, Khan was transported back to Adiala Jail and later moved to his cell, prison officials said.

The medical visit took place amid heightened security around the former premier’s transfer to and from the hospital.

Islamabad IG Inspects Security Arrangements

Earlier, Inspector General (IG) Islamabad Police reached Shifa International Hospital on Thursday night, while media vehicles had reportedly been removed from the vicinity amid heightened security arrangements. Security had been placed on high alert from Koral Chowk to Zero Point, while strict security measures have also been put in place around Shifa International Hospital, indicating that Khan’s transfer could take place shortly.

SC Orders Shifting Imran Khan to Hospital

Two days ago, the Supreme Court ordered Imran Khan’s transfer to Shifa International Hospital for medical treatment, although the former prime minister has remained in Adiala Jail so far. The court issued the directive on medical grounds, following repeated concerns raised by Khan’s legal team and family regarding his health and the medical facilities available to him.

A three-member Supreme Court bench directed that Imran Khan be transferred to Shifa International Hospital for treatment.

Under court’s order, Khan’s personal physician Dr Faisal Sultan and his sister Dr Uzma Khan will be allowed to remain with him, while members of his family will be permitted to meet him once a week.

Supreme Court has adjourned the case until the 16th of next month and directed that Imran Khan remain under treatment at the hospital during this period. During the hearing, the court also raised questions regarding the cost of treatment at the private hospital and the confidentiality of Imran Khan’s medical reports.
