IGP chairs  meeting to review security in Sukkur, Larkana

In a convened session at the Central Police Office Karachi, Inspector General (IG) Sindh, Raffat Mukhtar Raja, chaired a meeting focusing on the prevailing security conditions within the Sukkur and Larkana ranges. Key attendees included Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs) from Sukkur, Larkana, Shikarpur, Kashmore, and others, participating via video link. Additionally, DIGs Headquarters, Operations, and Administration, along with Assistant Inspector Generals, were present.

During the session, DIGs from Sukkur and Larkana briefed on the overall security situations within their respective ranges. They noted an increase in public complaints regarding security in Sukkur and Larkana districts. Issues particularly highlighted included incidents of extortion, street crimes, and complaints of police non-cooperation, which have been widely reported in the media. IG Sindh stressed the paramount importance of public trust in the police force. He directed unnecessary actions be taken to rebuild public trust in their respective ranges.

Additionally, he instructed SSPs/DSPs and SHOs to conduct meetings with the public to address security complaints and prioritize their resolution. The prompt arrest of the suspects involved in the murder of journalist Jaan Muhammad Mehr is imperative for the Sindh government and law enforcement agencies.

IG Sindh emphasized the need for swift action in apprehending those responsible for the journalist’s murder. Furthermore, it was noted that most incidents of extortion are related to “hundi” (illegal money transfer) operations.

The culprits involved in the murder of the journalist have been identified, with ongoing changes in their whereabouts. Police teams are continuously pursuing the suspects, and their arrest is imminent.
