MUMBAI/COLOMBO – The International Cricket Council (ICC) will announce the official schedule of the T20 World Cup 2026 today in Mumbai.
The tournament will run from February 7 to March 8, 2026, and will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka, marking the first such collaboration for a T20 World Cup.
The sources said that the 20 participating teams have been divided into four groups, with the top two sides from each group progressing to the Super Eight stage. The eight qualifying teams will then be further placed into two groups, from which the top two teams of each group will advance to the semi-finals.
Sources confirmed that Pakistan and India have been drawn into the same group, alongside the United States, Namibia and the Netherlands. The highly anticipated Pakistan–India match has been scheduled for February 15 in Colombo. Pakistan is expected to play all its matches in Sri Lanka.
The grouping also places Sri Lanka, Australia, Zimbabwe, Ireland and Oman together in one pool while England, West Indies, Bangladesh, Nepal and Italy form another. South Africa, New Zealand, Afghanistan, UAE and Canada comprise the fourth group.
The matches in India will be played in Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi and Ahmedabad while Sri Lanka will host games in Colombo and Kandy.
Ahmedabad has been selected as the venue for the tournament final but the officials say the final will be shifted to Colombo if Pakistan qualifies. Similarly, Mumbai and Kolkata have been chosen to host the semi-finals, which will move to Colombo in the event of Pakistan’s qualification.
The formal schedule announcement later today is expected to confirm all fixtures, venues and match timings.
