Pakistan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar held telephone conversation with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi, who is also a candidate for UN secretary-general.
According to a statement shared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday, the two discussed the evolving regional situation and agreed that implementing the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) remained the most effective way to ease tensions.
Grossi offered technical assistance if required, while Dar reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to the principles and objectives of the UN Charter, international law and international treaties.
The deputy prime minister also underscored the importance of the United Nations system in advancing global peace and development.
Dar wished Grossi success in his campaign for the position of UN secretary-general.
