LAHORE – Heatwaves are expected to persist in Lahore and most parts of Punjab on Eid-ul-Azha and the next 04 to 05 days.
Day temperatures will likely remain between 05°C and 07°C above normal levels till June 12.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. High pressure in the upper atmosphere prevails over the country, which will continue to persist during the next 04 to 05 days.
Under these conditions, heatwaves are expected to persist in Lahore and most districts of Punjab on Eid-ul-Azha and during the coming week.
Day temperatures will likely remain between 05°C and 07°C above normal levels in Islamabad and upper and central Punjab from June 07 to June 12.
Lahore’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 40°C and 42°C on Saturday and Sunday, and between 41°C and 43°C on Monday.
Meanwhile, hot and dry weather prevailed in Lahore and most districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.
Bahawalpur remained the hottest place in Punjab, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 44°C. The maximum temperature in Dera Ghazi Khan was recorded at 43°C, and in Multan and Sargodha at 42°C.
In Lahore, the maximum temperature was recorded at 40°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 29 per cent.
