Grade 19 Officer Dismissed Over Fake Ba Mba Degrees

ISLAMABAD – A Grade-19 government officer has been dismissed from service after the Islamabad High Court upheld findings that he obtained his academic qualifications through fraud and forgery.

According to a judgment issued on July 1, 2026, a division bench of the Islamabad High Court dismissed the intra-court appeal filed by Waseem Afzal Warraich, ruling that his BA and MBA degrees had been acquired through fraudulent means.

The court ordered him to return all salaries, benefits and other financial perks received during his government service and directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to initiate legal proceedings against him.

Court records show that Warraich first secured employment at SME Bank in 1993 using the fake qualifications before leaving under the Golden Handshake Scheme in 2009. He later joined the Ministry of Labour and Manpower as a Grade-19 officer in 2011 on the basis of the same credentials.

Following the court’s decision, the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis issued a notification formally dismissing Warraich from service, ordered the recovery of all benefits paid to him, and instructed the FIA to pursue criminal action in accordance with the court’s directives.
