The federal government has exempted operational vehicles of the Armed Forces from the 50% fuel cut imposed on official vehicles.
According to media reports, administrative and non-operational military vehicles will remain covered by the restriction.
The fuel-saving measure will remain in effect for three months. Operational vehicles used by the Civil Armed Forces, law enforcement agencies, essential services and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) have also been exempted.
In addition, the government has directed a 5% monthly reduction in Non-ERE budgetary expenditures during FY2026-27. The measure will also cover foreign missions, although spending on rent, education fees and medical treatment will continue.
The government has further prohibited the purchase of vehicles of all categories and durable goods. However, IT-related procurement has been excluded from the durable-goods restriction.
Development projects will not be affected by the fuel-saving measure, Non-ERE expenditure cut or restrictions on the purchase of vehicles and durable goods.
