The business community’ bigwigs, governors of different provinces and political parties are attaching great importance to the upcoming elections of the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) (scheduled to be held on December 30, 2023) which is considered the representative body of all Pakistan’s chambers of commerce, business houses s, industry and traders associations, etc.
According to sources, a sitting caretaker federal minister and a Punjab cabinet member have already started campaign for their candidates to be elected for the FPCCI.
Besides, Governors of Sindh and the KP are also playing an active role in finalization of the names of candidates of their choice particularly for the slots of president, vice president and secretary general.
It may be mentioned here that the current Governor of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Haji Ghulam Ali has served as the President of the FPCCI in the past.
Similarly, Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori who also hails from a prestigious business group is also taking keen interest in the FPCCI elections.
In the last FPCCI elections, former Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar, former Governor Sindh Imran Ismail, spouse of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and some officials of a secret agency had reportedly played a key role in getting their men elected.
This year too, intense lobbying for the candidates is underway and as the time for election is nearing this campaign is going to take further momentum.
