KARACHI – Gold prices in Pakistan jumed sharply on first day of the week, with 24-karat gold increasing by Rs4,200 per tola to Rs487,136, according to market rates.

The latest increase has taken the precious metal closer to the Rs500,000-per-tola threshold, a level that has become an important psychological benchmark for Pakistan’s bullion market. The price of 24-karat gold also increased by Rs3,601 per 10 grams, reaching Rs417,640. The price of one gram stood at Rs41,764.

Gold Latest Rate
Gold – 1 Tola Rs487,136
Gold – 10 Grams Rs417,640
Silver – 1 Tola Rs7,379

The latest move came after another substantial increase recorded on Saturday. Gold had risen by Rs5,700 per tola that day, taking the price to Rs482,936.

The successive gains have pushed the local price of 24-karat gold above Rs480,000 per tola and kept the market on an upward trajectory. The latest rate is now Rs12,864 higher than Saturday’s level.

Market traders suggested that gold could cross the Rs500,000-per-tola mark if the current momentum continues. At Rs487,136, the precious metal is currently Rs12,864 short of that level.

The direction of local gold prices will depend on several factors, including international bullion prices, movements in the Pakistani rupee against the US dollar and domestic demand.

International gold is currently quoted at around $4,646 per ounce, while silver in Pakistan is trading at Rs7,379 per tola. The rapid increase in gold prices is significant for both investors and jewellery consumers. While higher prices can support existing gold holders, they raise the cost of jewellery purchases and may influence consumer demand.
