WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump on Saturday expressed hope that a ceasefire in Gaza could be possible by next week.
“We are close to a ceasefire in Gaza. I believe it will happen by next week,” said President Trump while talking to the reporters at the White House on Saturday.
Trump remarked that the situation in Gaza is very bad. He added that the U.S. is providing money and food, and no other country is helping America in this effort.
During the media briefing, President Trump was asked whether, in the future, if intelligence reports raise serious concerns about Iran’s uranium enrichment, he would consider bombing Iran.
“I won’t rule out another attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities,” says Trump
President Trump responded, “I won’t rule out another attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities. If Iran enriches uranium to a level that concerns us, I would certainly consider bombing.”
Trump further stated that he wants inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency or any other reputable organization to inspect the nuclear sites in Iran that the U.S. bombed last week.
He also said he would soon respond to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei’s statement in which he claimed that Iran slapped America in the face by attacking a U.S. military base in Qatar.
Trump again takes credit for Pakistan-India ceasefire
In the same event at the White House, President Trump also took credit once again for the ceasefire between India and Pakistan and praised the leadership of both countries for achieving it.
He said, “I am very happy to have helped resolve the India-Pakistan issue. Both countries possess high-level nuclear weapons. We resolved their issue through trade.”
In addition, President Trump said that the presidency is an extremely dangerous position, mentioning that sometimes he is reminded of being grazed by a bullet in Pennsylvania which causes his heart to race.
Trump compares presidency to riding a wild bull
He said, “The risk of dying while riding a wild bull or being a race car driver is about one percent but if you’re the president, the risk is five percent. If someone had told me this earlier, I might not have run for office,”.
President Trump also expressed hope of soon resolving the conflict with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
Lastly, US President Trump announced the immediate end of trade negotiations with Canada, saying, “Dealing with Canada is a tough task.”
