ISLAMABAD – The federal government has restored the Health Card Scheme for Islamabad, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Starting from January 16, the scheme will officially be active, providing health coverage to over 10 million citizens in these regions.
The Health Card Scheme, approved with a funding of Rs40 billion, will allow eligible families to access both public and private hospitals for free medical treatment.
Under this initiative, the government will cover the expenses of costly treatments, surgeries, and medications.
The scheme is set to remain in effect until June 30, 2027.
The federal government views the Health Card as a key welfare program aimed at improving public health services, and the decision has been welcomed by citizens, who are expressing satisfaction with the new initiative.
