LAHORE – The final consultations for the Pakistan squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup and the home series against Australia are expected to take place later this week, sources said.

According to sources, Pakistan head coach Mike Hesson will arrive in Lahore after the conclusion of the national team’s tour of Sri Lanka.

Members of the national T20 squad are returning home today after completing the Sri Lanka series.

Sources said that head coach Mike Hesson and T20 captain Salman Ali Agha will hold final consultations with the national selectors regarding squad selection.

Following these consultations, the squad will be formally announced with the approval of PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has already submitted a preliminary list of players to the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the T20 World Cup. However, the PCB is allowed to make changes to the squad without ICC approval until January 31.

Sources further revealed that the list of probable players includes captain Salman Ali Agha, Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Fakhar Zaman, Shadab Khan, Babar Azam, Faheem Ashraf, Mohammad Nawaz, Usman Khan and Abrar Ahmed.

Fast bowlers Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf are also among the probable players, along with Salman Mirza and Khawaja Nafi.

Meanwhile, Abdul Samad, Mohammad Wasim Jr and Usman Tariq are likely to be named as reserve players.
