DUBAI – The UAE Emirates ID is a mandatory identity document for both UAE citizens and residents, including Pakistani nationals.
According to UAE law, all individuals, whether citizens or residents, must obtain and maintain an Emirates ID issued by the relevant authorities.
This card serves multiple functions, including access to government services and, for UAE citizens, acting as a travel document for movement within the GCC countries.
Failure to obtain or update the Emirates ID may result in fines or other legal consequences.
Renewal applications can be submitted up to 30 days before the card’s expiration. Delays in renewal beyond this period may incur late fees.
To renew the Emirates ID, individuals can use the ICP website, the ICP mobile app (available on Google Play and the App Store), or visit an authorized typing center.
It’s important to note that UAE residents can only renew their Emirates ID once their residence visa has been renewed or reissued.
Documents Required for Emirates ID Renewal
A valid passport.
A permit to issue a valid residence permit, a residence origin under renewal procedures, or a valid residence permit for those who did not issue an identity card when issuing the residence permit.
A personal with a white background for all age groups.
Original birth certificate, passport of one of the parents or Emirates ID for those under 15 years old.
Emirates ID Card Renewal Fee Update November 2025
The renewal fee for the Emirates ID varies based on the selected validity period. For a one-year renewal, the fee is AED 170. For a two-year renewal, the cost increases to AED 340, while a three-year renewal is priced at AED 510.
