War-torn Gaza continues to remain disconected to world after blackout of internet services, and now Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite service is active in Gaza medical facility.

The world’s richest person and tech pioneer shared a post on his social media handle after months of negotiation over humanitarian internet access. Starlink provides global internet access via constellation of low Earth orbit satellites.

With the slight beacon of hope for Gaza connectictivity, Starlink satellite internet is activate in Gaza Strip hospital. “Starlink is now active in a Gaza hospital with the support of UAEmediaoffice and Israel,” Elon Musk said, marking the implementation of the service after months of destruction in the region.

Foreign Office of United Arab Emirates maintained that high-speed internet will facilitate potentially life-saving medical consultations through real-time video calls.

Gaza is facing massive connectivity issue due to damages infrastructure, shortage of power and fuel, further dented operation of telecos and affects the effectiveness of medical staff, rescue teams, and hospital services.

Amnesty International and other rights groups reported losing contact with workers in Gaza, making it difficult to record human rights abuses. The communications blackout badly affected to disseminate information and evidence about violations and war crimes against Palestinian civilians.

Human Rights Watch also sounds alarm that lack of communication could shield massacre and lead to impunity for human rights abuses.
