ISLAMABAD – Pakistan has carried out 40,348 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) across the country so far in 2026, DG ISPR said at a press conference on Thursday, sharing details of scale of its ongoing campaign against terrorism.
Speaking at a high-profile press conference, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry presented an overview of the country’s security situation, placing Balochistan at the center of the briefing amid continued efforts to counter militant violence and strengthen national stability.
The military spokesperson said the extensive counterterrorism campaign reflects a coordinated national effort involving the Pakistan Armed Forces, intelligence agencies, police, and civil armed forces. According to the latest figures, thousands of intelligence-led operations have been launched this year to track, disrupt, and dismantle terrorist networks operating in different parts of the country.
Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said the security operations are part of Pakistan’s broader strategy to curb terrorism, improve public safety, and prevent militant groups from regrouping. He noted that the combined efforts of all security institutions remain focused on maintaining law and order while responding swiftly to emerging threats.
The briefing also outlined the broader national security landscape, with officials expected to share updates on recent counterterrorism developments and the military’s assessment of the challenges confronting the country.
