ISTANBUL — Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir called on Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on sidelines of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Foreign Ministers’ summit.
During high-level meeting, Foreign Minister Dar conveyed message of goodwill from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to the Turkish leader as two sides expressed a shared commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, with an emphasis on long-term strategic cooperation across multiple sectors.
Dar stressed deepening historic partnership between Islamabad and Ankara as both leaders agreed to explore new avenues to diversify their collaboration.
The meeting also focused on ongoing conflict in Middle East. The leaders underscored need for continued diplomatic engagement to reduce tensions between Iran and Israel to restore peace and stability in the region.
A strong call was made to halt Israeli aggression in Gaza and ensure the swift and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people suffering under blockade and bombardment.
Foreign Minister Dar also extended congratulations to President Erdogan for his successful hosting of the OIC summit. He further praised Erdogan’s recognition by the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum, which awarded him for his leadership on key regional and global issues.
