NEW DELHI – Danish badminton star Mia Blichfeldt has raised serious concerns over inadequate facilities at the ongoing Indian Open 2026, highlighting organisational shortcomings and substandard playing conditions.
Speaking after her Round of 32 victory, Blichfeldt expressed disappointment that the situation had not improved compared to last year’s tournament. She said the facilities provided for players were “extremely poor,” with courts and overall conditions lacking cleanliness and proper maintenance.
Her remarks have sparked questions about the tournament’s management, with fans and fellow players also calling on the BWF to intervene and ensure improvements for upcoming events.
“The conditions are exactly the same as last year, which is concerning for all players,” she said. “If this continues at future major events, it would be unfair to athletes.”
