Crimes against women on the rise in India

Crimes against women have been on the rise in India and it is notoriously famous for women trafficking and they are being sold by traffickers and forced into marriages against their will.

India has been marked as the most dangerous place for women due to enormous rape/gang rape cases per year, said a report released by Kashmir Media Service on Friday.

It said human trafficking is deeply rooted in India that is affecting mainly women and girls as thousands of women and girls are trafficked through the country every year. It said women are usually considered second-class citizens and almost every day, women are being assaulted, molested and raped in India. India uses rape as a weapon of war in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, it lamented.

The report said India is the most unsafe country for women and gravity of the situation can be judged from the fact that even the Chairperson of Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) is not safe.—INP
