Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Defence Day paid tribute to all officers and soldiers of the armed forces, particularly martyrs and veterans, acknowledging their sacrifices for the country’s defence.
In her message, the chief minister said the nation was proud of the Pakistan Army, Air Force and Na-vy, adding that the armed forces had set new standards of professionalism in Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad.
She said the entire nation prayed for the safety of officers and soldiers engaged in the fight against terrorism. “The armed forces have proved that wars are not won merely with weapons but with faith and conviction,” she said.
CM Punjab said Pakistan’s defence was now “invincible” and the country, as a nuclear power, was more confident than ever. She paid tribute to the soldiers standing guard along the country’s frontiers, calling them a source of pride for the nation.
She said the people stood shoulder to shoulder with the armed forces and would continue to do so.
The chief minister said the challenges facing Pakistan required national unity and solidarity, stressing that the “nefarious designs” of forces seeking to create instability had to be thwarted with resolve and determination.
