LAHORE – Lahore Traffic Police have finalised traffic and parking arrangements for the Pakistan–South Africa T20 match scheduled to be held at Gaddafi Stadium on Friday (today).
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Dr. Athar Waheed said that more than 1,000 traffic wardens will be deployed across the city to ensure smooth traffic flow and facilitate cricket fans arriving at the venue. He added that all major roads, including The Mall, Jail Road, Canal Road, Ferozepur Road, and Main Boulevard Gulberg, will remain open to traffic during the match.
“No road will be permanently closed, and traffic will continue as usual on all major routes,” Dr. Athar Waheed said. He further stated that 20 forklifts and four breakdown vehicles would remain on standby throughout the event, while strict action would be taken against wrong parking.
According to the traffic plan, spectators coming via Ferozepur Road will turn from Kalma Chowk, pass through National Park, and park their vehicles at Government College Gulberg. Those arriving from Defence and Cantt areas will reach Liberty Parking via Hussain Chowk or Sherpao Bridge through Main Boulevard Gulberg. Similarly, spectators from Mughalpura and Garhi Shahu will use Main Boulevard Gulberg and park their vehicles at Sunfort Hotel Liberty Parking.
The CTO urged citizens to strictly follow parking instructions and avoid wrong parking to prevent congestion around the stadium. He assured that citizens and cricket fans would not face any inconvenience, as the traffic police will remain active throughout the match to manage the situation.
Traffic updates and route guidance will be provided in real time through the Rasta App and Rasta FM 88.6, he added.
