US Central Command (CENTCOM) said its forces had completed an additional round of strikes against Iran, July 8, to further degrade Iran’s ability to attack commercial shipping and innocent civilian mariners in the Strait of Hormuz.
“US forces struck approximately 90 Iranian military targets including air defense systems, coastal surveillance assets, missile and drone storage sites, naval capabilities, and military logistics infrastructure along Iran’s coastline. The latest strikes follow successful execution of offensive strikes in Iran the night before,” it said in a press releaes.
CENTCOM forces hit approximately 80 Iranian military targets July 7, including more than 60 Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps small boats, to impose heavy costs for Iran violating the ceasefire by attacking three commercial vessels navigating the Strait of Hormuz.
US forces remain vigilant, lethal, and prepared to execute operations directed by the Commander in Chief.
In response, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said they targeted US bases in Kuwait and Bahrain in missile and drone attacks.
According to the statement, the operation was directed at the Arifjan and Ali Al Salem military bases in Kuwait, along with the Juffair and Sheikh Isa bases in Bahrain. The IRGC also warned that any additional military action by the United States would trigger further strikes against US military installations across the region.
Meanwhile, Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf in a post on X wrote: “America still hasn’t learned that bullying and breaking promises are no longer cost-free. Let me put it plainly: if you strike, you’ll get hit.”
“Don’t flail around pointlessly, or you’ll sink even deeper: the Strait of Hormuz will only open with “Iranian arrangements,” not American threats,” he added
US President Donald Trump has claimed, “They [Iran] called a little while ago. They want to make a deal so badly — I just don’t know if they’re worthy of making a deal. I don’t know that they’re going to honor the deal. That’s the problem.”
“We just hit them very hard, and I say we hit them 20-to-1 — every time they hit us, we’re going to hit them 20… When they hit, we hit back much harder.”
