The report noted that at time when the region was facing uncertainty and escalating challenges, Field Marshal Asim Munir emphasized the importance of reconciliation, cooperation, and maintaining peace among regional countries.

Calling him a “bridge of peace,” Iran International said that Pakistan’s military leadership focused not only on security concerns but also on initiatives aimed at encouraging stability and preventing further escalation in the region.

The report mentioned COAS vision for regional harmony, suggesting that his approach reflected the importance of diplomacy and engagement during periods of geopolitical uncertainty.

Field Marshal Asim Munir played central role in brokering peace between US and Iran during the 2026 conflict. Operating as the key backchannel mediator, CDF made multiple high-stakes trips to Tehran, used direct encrypted communications, and worked relentlessly, often day and night, to secure ceasefires, prevent negotiation collapses, and facilitate direct talks in Islamabad.

Leveraging his strong personal rapport with President Trump, who called him “favorite field marshal” and Pakistan’s ties with Iran, Munir helped deliver a ceasefire just hours before major US strikes and contributed to the eventual broader peace agreement.
