In a statement shared on social media, the Sixers said Babar has been recalled to Pakistan’s national team camp for upcoming international assignments, prompting his early departure from the tournament.
The franchise also thanked Babar for his contribution and professionalism during his time with the team.
In a video message, Babar expressed appreciation to the Sixers’ coaching staff, players, and fans, saying he enjoyed his stint with the side but had to return due to national duty. He added that he was leaving with positive memories and gratitude for the support he received.

Sydney Sixers are scheduled to face the Hobart Hurricanes in the Challenger Final.
The winner of that match will meet the Perth Scorchers in the BBL final.
Babar Azam earlier had joined Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL) franchise, the Sydney Sixers, ahead of the 2025 season. The star batter was signed in the pre-draft phase for a reported amount of USD 420,000 — over PKR 118.8 million.
Babar Azam, one of the most prominent names in international cricket, made his debut in the BBL last year.
Sydney Sixers picked Babar Azam in the Platinum category, which carried a base price of approximately Rs75 million.
According to the reports, this contract made Babar Azam one of the most expensive players in Big Bash League (BBL) history.
