NEW YORK – Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Amir-Saeid Iravani on Monday issued a stern warning, declaring that Tehran would give a decisive response to any US military aggression.
Addressing a session of the UN Security Council, Iravani stated that the timing and nature of the response would be determined solely by Iran’s armed forces.
“The United States’ allegations against Iran are entirely baseless and politically motivated,” Iravani asserted.
“These claims lack any legal foundation and represent an attempt to weaponize the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), turning it into a tool of aggression and unlawful action.”
He emphasized that any US attack on Iran would be a violation of international law, adding that Iran had repeatedly warned Washington to avoid war but the US had endangered its own security “for the sake of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.”
Iravani also condemned ongoing efforts to restrict Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, saying, “The international community is witnessing a show of force against Iran under false pretenses. Meanwhile, Israeli aggression has destabilized the entire region.”
The Iranian envoy stressed that Iran’s nuclear activities are strictly for peaceful purposes, and that efforts to curb them reflect broader political agendas rather than legitimate security concerns.
The statement comes amid escalating regional tensions following Israeli military strikes on Iran and ongoing US support for Israel. The crisis has prompted urgent international discussions as the risk of a broader conflict in the Middle East intensifies.
