A delegation of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter visited the Kashmir Policy Research Institute (KPRI) in Muzaffarabad where they were briefed by the Institute’s Director Dr. Raja Muhammad Sajjad Khan.

The APHC-AJK delegation comprised Convener Mehmood Ahmad Saghar, Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, Altaf Hussain Wani, Altaf Ahmed Butt, Syed Ijaz Ahmad Shah, Imtiaz Iqbal Wani and Zahid Ashraf.

Director Raja Muhammad Sajjad Khan told the visiting delegation that the KPRI publishes a journal in the name of “International Journal of Kashmir Studies” in which reports on human rights violations in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir are published. Recently, a report was published on the situation prevailing in IIOJK after 05 August 2019, he added.

Apart from publishing reports on human rights violations in IIOJK, the institute also organizes internship programs, seminars, conferences, lectures etc, the KPRI Director said.

The Hurriyat Conference delegation appreciated the work and initiatives of the KPRI and assured full support to the institute.

On the occasion, APHC-AJK Convener, Mehmood Ahmad Saghar said that India was spreading false propaganda to defame the ongoing freedom movement of the Kashmiri people to mislead the international community. He stressed the need to adopt an effective strategy to thwart India’s negative propaganda.

Other members of the Hurriyat delegation said that India was trying to link their freedom movement with terrorism, adding it was their responsibility to defeat the Indian propaganda and tell the world that the Kashmiris’ struggle was just and legitimate according to the United Nations Charter. They said that the Modi government was hell bent on altering the demography of IIOJK to turn its Muslim majority population into a minority. They urged the international community to take notice of Indian illegal actions and its atrocities on the innocent Kashmiris.—KMS
